Made by Scotlands oldest independant family owned and run distillery, since it first hit the market this dram has evolved to it’s current incarnation going back to ex-bourbon oak casks.
NOSE: Soft peach with some honey tones, beeswax candles and spice. Tempting orchard fruits start to come in as this dram opens nicely in the glass. This is possibly one of the best noses we have in the 10-15 year old drams.
PALATE: This is a truly lovely dram from the start, soft sweet fruits start us off then along comes some of the honey from the nose but a light sweet golden honey. Clean rich aromatic spices and the hint of barley sugar twists.
FINISH: Simply stunning, so fruity and full bodied but never overpowering at any time be it the beginning middle or the end of the taste, a perfectly balanced dram that leaves you wanting more. If only other single malts tasted as good.
