NEW BOTTLING'S FROM CADENHEADS & SPRINGBANK APRIL 2012

This April’s bottling’s sees a few different wood matured whisky which always prove very popular please note we have limited stock of theses whiskies.
Speyside
Glendronach Distillery 1990 21y/o 51.1%
Nose: Honeycomb, tablet, toffee shortbread, floral, nuts and dried fruits.
Palate: Beautiful, rich, smooth and creamy. Honey and lemon with spicy notes.
Finish: Lingering cinnamon and soft spices.

Glen Keith Distillery 1993 18y/o 54.3%
Nose: Soft malty toffee, a hint of mint, malt barns and a bit floral.
Palate: Vanilla, butterscotch and toffee.
Finish: Long sweet elegant finish.

Mannochmore Distillery 1996 15y/o 56.4%
Nose: Sweet caramel, malty, biscuity and vanilla with hints of nuts.
Palate: Intensely malty, rich and full bodied with hints of spice.
Finish: Sweet spices with a dry lingering sweetness.

Mortlach Distillery 199619y/o 51.5% (Sherry Cask)
Nose: Rich sherry notes; christmas cake; marzipan.
Palate: Pear drops. Smooth,and elegant with hints of spice, nougat, cloves & hazelnut.
Finish: Rich and very sweet; toffee; caramelized sugar.

Tamnavulin-Glenlivet Distillery 1992 20y/o 50.8% (Chateau Lafitte Cask)
Nose: Excellent, malty, rich sweet, over ripe plumbs.
Palate: Rich honey, vanilla, soft fruits, gooseberries, apple skins, cider apples, confectionary.
Finish: Elegant lingering smooth sweet.

Royal Brackla Distillery 1992 19y/o 55.9% (Rum Cask)
Nose: Raisins, muesli, spices, molasses and hints of salt.
Palate: Coconut. Again molasses as the nose suggests.
Finish: Very sweet. Dark chocolate and syrup.

Glengarioch 1993 Distillery 18y/o 53% (Sauternes Cask)
Nose: Rich and sweet. Drinking chocolate; Baileys Irish Cream.
Palate: Wow! Very rich with a smooth sweetness like demerara sugar or treacle.
Finish: A long intensively sweet finish.

West Highland
Ben Nevis Distillery 1992 20y/o 56.2%
Nose: Typical Ben Nevis. Barley sugar, hints of rubber, slightly musty with vanilla notes.
Palate: Bitter then sweet and malty, citrus notes, liquorice,
Finish: Spices and sweet tobacco and hints of Irn Bru!

Lowland
Glenkinchie Distillery 1987 24y/o 49.6%
Nose: Incredibly fruity and floral. Grapefruit, ginger and vanilla. Pear drops.
Palate: Citrus, sugary, smooth and sweet. Vanilla notes.
Finish: Good length, warming with some spiciness.

Campbeltown
Longrow distilled at Springbank Distillery 1998 13y/o 55%
Nose: Heavenly. Stewed rhubarb, marmalade, barley sugar and peat smoke.
Palate: Great balance, perfection in a glass. Gentle peat. Fruity.
Finish: Dry peat, smooth wood, sweet and lovely.

Caol Ila Distillery 1991 21y/o 53.4% (725)
Nose: Soft peat, creamy, dry burning embers, burnt embers, vanilla, tablet and floral.
Palate: Sweet dry smoke and peat, complex and hugely drinkable at this strength.
Finish: Excellent lingering sweet peat.

Nose: Floral, fruity with hints of vanilla, moss and hints of salt.
Palate: Soft and smoky, dry sweet peat, burnt embers, perfect balance.

Arran Distillery 1996 15y/o 56.9%
Nose: Barley sugar, caramel, floral with hints of citrus.
Palate: Malty sweetness, straw, full bodied, citrus notes as the nose suggests.
Finish: Smooth lingering sweetness with a salty tang.

Tobermory Distillery 1996 15y/o 53.7%
Nose: Spent matches; winter fruits.
Palate: Very sweet, sugared almonds, salted nuts.
Finish: Sweet and peppery. Moreish!

Tomintoul-Glenlivet Distillery 26y/o 55.6%
Nose: Malty, light and estery, glazed fruits, caramel and coconut.
Palate: Sweet, creamy and smooth. Fizzy but classy.
Finish: Elegant smooth lingering sweetness with hints of spice.

Closed Distilleries
Glencraig distilled at Glenburgie-Glenlivet Distillery 1981 31y/o 50.8%
Nose:Once you have let it breathe you get honeycomb and vanilla.
Palate:Intensely sweet and fruity with some honeycomb and clover.
Finish:A rich sweet finish.

Dumbarton (Inverleven Stills) Distillery 1987 24y/o 49.5%
Nose: Straw; toffee; ginger nut; oats. Sweet and rich.
Palate: Like a cream liqueur. Very smooth, chocolatey and floral.

World Whiskies
Bourbon from Heaven Hill Distilleries Inc. Bardstown, Kentucky 15y/o 58.9%
Nose: Sweet popcorn, chocolate orange, Fudge, parma violets, raisins.
Palate: Floral, rich, creamy and smooth. Hazelnut.
Finish: Sweet. Long soft and delightful.

RUM TASTING NOTES
BARBADOS 11Y/O 59.1% BBR from Blackrock Distillery
Nose: Sweet confectionary; creme brulee, banoffee pie; dark orange flavoured chocolate.
Palate: Refreshingly sweet; smooth molasses and fizzy cola.
Finish:A lovely and very smooth finish.

Demerara 1975 38.5%
Nose: Sugar cane, heather honey and rich cherries.
Palate: Very smooth and sweet like fudge.
Finish: A long sweet finish.

Brazilian Rum 12Y/O 46%
Nose:Satsumas, dried fruits and dates.
Palate: Liquorice and aniseed.
Finish: A short finish with hints of rhubarb.

Haiti Rum 7Y/O 46%
Nose: Strawberries and cream.
Palate: Sweet molasses and honey; pear drops and creamy toffee.
Finish: Cappuccino flavours at the end.

Nicaraguan Rum 9Y/O 46%
Nose:Toffee; spices; marzipan; cloves and pineapple.
Palate: Light, smooth and sweet with hints of blackcurrant and liquorice.
Finish: Very smooth with a lovely lingering sweetness

From Springbank Rundlets & Kilderkins 10y/o 49.4%(Released in March 2012)
Nose: Honey, vanilla, chocolate, nougat, and toffee in
abundance followed by hints of wholesome freshly ground
nutmeg.
Palate: Creamy and rich as expected from the nose with
notes of chocolate covered honey comb mixed with pistachio
and crushed almonds. Rich and oily from its maturation in
small casks, it gives an impression of being older than its ten
years.
Finish: The ground nutmeg still evident on the finish but the
creaminess outstays the spices to a long smooth and sweet
finish. With water this dram develops an even sweeter finish,
fruity and sugar candy, it becomes even smoother.
